Bodies That Matter

Bodies That Matter (2018) is a body of work which working title stems from the very book by the philosopher Judith Butler. Thematically the works relates to her writings about gender issues and performativity.  The single pictures are meant to be installed as an organic and variable group according to a specific space. The Body and the Matter is here expressed in an abstract way with connotations to both parts of the human body and matter as material form relating to a body in a space, to movement and to interconnection on various levels. The in total 13 works are a combination of acrylic painting and silk embroidery in japanese sashiko technique on unprimed canvas.
